12.6.04 - Topaz Introduces SigCompare Software for Visual Verification of eSignatures
Simi Valley, CA - December 6, 2004 - Topaz Systems, Inc. announces the release of SigCompare™, a software tool which allows a person to visually compare and verify an electronic signature captured using any of the full line of Topaz® electronic signature pads. Download from the SigCompare web page. Especially useful with teller applications in banks, credit union, and pharmacies, SigCompare software allows a teller or cashier to conduct instantaneous spot-checks of a customer’s signature to quickly identify attempts at forgery. The SigCompare download contains the application, ActiveX control, source code, and developers’ documentation for the visual verification of electronic signatures without requiring the creation or storage of signature templates.
SigCompare enables users to make a quick visual side-by-side comparison between a spot signature and a known valid reference sample, and contains elements of Topaz’s SigAnalyze® software for forensic signature experts. Because of the intuitive design of SigCompare, it is for use by laypersons and requires minimal training, resulting in a powerful tool to fight signature fraud and speed the process of checking signature cards. The Dynamic Shading™ feature reveals the signature’s dynamic characteristics through Topaz’s patented technique of varying pen width based on real-time incremental signature velocity, requiring no enrollment and only a single reference signature for comparison purposes.
"SigCompare software is perfect for users desiring a quick and reliable way to validate an electronic signature without creating multi-signature reference templates. 2.28.04 - Topaz Systems Forensic-Quality Signatures Comply with eCommerce Laws
Simi Valley, CA - February 28, 2004 - Topaz Systems provides legally-enforceable handwritten electronic signature solutions with SignatureGem® series digitizing capture tablets and bundled SigPlus® software. This complete hardware and software system includes everything a business needs to take advantage of the benefits of paperless transactions plus the software tools and intellectual property to authenticate the signatures in a court of law.
Signatures captured with the Topaz® system are legally binding because they meet or exceed the following universally recognized ESIGN, UETA, and individual states' electronic signature guidelines: a Topaz signature is unique to the person using it just as an ink-on-paper signature, it is capable of verification and authentication by forensic experts (with Topaz patented SigAnalyze® software), it is under the sole control of the person using it (therefore it cannot be misplaced or stolen), and it is linked to document data in such a way that is the document is changed, the signature is invalidated.
The Topaz eSignature system is unique in that it provides the tools, intellectual property, patents, software, and training to take an eCommerce document from the electronic pen and pad all the way to signature authentication in the courtroom. Unlike other electronic signature systems that display only an image of a signature (the equivalent of a fax or photocopy) and promise legal compliance but offer no forensic examination tools or authenticable data, the Topaz method binds the original biometric and forensic pen data directly into the signed electronic document. This unaltered pen data can later be verified by a forensic document examiner using Topaz's patented SigAnalyze software to determine whether or not the signature is authentic, giving users the security of knowing that forgeries and frauds can be detected. To prevent tampering, the signatures are encrypted to the document in such a way that if a document's contents are changed the signature is rendered invalid. All Topaz software, updates, and support are bundled free of charge with tablet hardware.
"The business world is now taking advantage of electronic signature technology that provides a standard of affordable, reliable, and legally authenticable electronically signed documents," says Anthony Zank, President and CEO of Topaz Systems. "Topaz SignatureGem tablets and SigPlus software have provided an eTransactions solution that stretches from the initial signing of a document to expert forensic testimony in a court of law." ABOUT TOPAZ Topaz Systems is a leading developer and manufacturer of electronic signature software and hardware, and has been based in Simi Valley, California since 1995. 1.7.04 - Topaz Announces Release of IDGem Electronic Signature and Fingerprint Devices
Simi Valley, CA - January 7, 2004 - Topaz Systems, Inc. announces the release of IDGem-series biometric identity verification and signature capture terminals with bundled SigID™ electronic fingerprint scoring software. IDGem® is available as a standalone electronic fingerprint capture sensor, integrated large or small interactive LCD display electronic signature capture tablet and fingerprint sensor, and integrated simultaneous ink-on-paper-enabled tablet and sensor. IDGem systems feature the same forensic-quality electronic signature capture technology as Topaz® SignatureGem® tablets but incorporate the added benefit of a high-resolution RF-inductive electronic fingerprint sensor, enabling robust and accurate biometric authentication for use in any high-security environment or where identity verification is a top priority. IDGem's integrated biometric system allows for two layers of electronic authentication. The first is the electronic signature capture terminal, which captures a user's handwritten signature's strokes, speed, and timing within 99.5% accuracy as a biometric vector file. The integrated electronic fingerprint sensor captures the fingertip's subcutaneous living skin layer for an exceptionally accurate and reliable fingerprint image. Like the signature data, this fingerprint image can be compared with a previously existing fingerprint template using SigID software, or used to create a new template. Together, these two technologies ensure accurate, reliable, and instantaneous biometric identity verification.
"IDGem provides an integrated approach to layered biometric identification, as well as all necessary software," says Topaz President Anthony Zank. "The IDGem system can be used to capture biometrics for applications where continuing authentication is needed as well as applications requiring one-time transactions."
